Welcome to HUG
 HUG – Help Us Grow is an Australian-based not-for-profit organisation that has been working to implement and support sustainable community projects in the beautiful rural villages of Uganda, in East Africa, since 2008.
Working in close partnership with local communities, we develop grassroots initiatives in education, health and agro-ecology; empowering individuals and families to create lasting, positive change in their own lives.
We also foster meaningful connections between program participants in Uganda and schools, families, businesses, and individuals across Australia. These relationships ensure that HUG’s projects truly bring people from opposite sides of the world together – growing and learning along side one another.

Each of our four initiatives are interconnected and supports the other; in fact each project makes the other one stronger.

Suubi Secondary School
Suubi Secondary and School provides education and vocational training opportunities for hundreds of students from in and around the local village.
Suubi Health Clinic
The high quality and reliable clinic provides key health services to local residents without them having to travel long distances for treatments or appointments.
Elite Backpackers & Safaris
Elite Backpackers & Safaris offers affordable, eco-friendly accomodation and safaris for tourists and volunteers. A percentage of the income supports our community projects.
Smiling Hearts
The Smiling HeARTs project provides education and vocational training whilst instilling a sense of belonging and self worth to children and youth with special needs.
